CONCETTA STEWART RECEIVES 2007 SCILS DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD

The SCILS Alumni Association Annual Dinner and Distinguished Alumni Award Event was held Tuesday, April 10, 2007,at the Rutgers Club where Dr. Concetta Stewart (Ph.D, 1989), Dean of the School of Communications and Theater at Temple University received the SCILS Distinguished Alumni Award. Concetta was part of the first class to enter SCILS when it was formed in 1982, a fitting choice as SCILS celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

As Dean of the Temple University School of Communications and Theater, Dr. Stewart provides academic, fiscal and strategic leadership for approximately 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students. Under her leadership, the School has doubled its enrollment, reorganized to better serve its students for success in the rapidly changing world of communications, and made significant strategic investments in technology. She leads a team of more than 40 administrative staff members, 90 full-time and 130 adjunct faculty members and has successfully recruited several new faculty members of national stature this year. Dean Stewart has increased the School’s visibility locally and nationally and also raised significant funds to improve the overall quality of students’ experiences.
