April 10, 2007: SCILS BOWL VIII saw an unparalleled match-up of eight of the toughest SCILS BOWL teams in the eight year storied history of this now legendary competition. Past champions and favorites, the SCILS Avengers, previously the Alumni Avengers, emerged victorious over the 2004 champions, the Library Goddesses. These two teams were the top seeds from the beginning and following expectation found themselves into the intense finals, but not without serious bumps and detours along the way.

The semi-finals nearly spelled the end for both clubs. A new start-up team, Team Extreme with the steady hand of Cory Lieberman at the tiller, gave the Goddesses a real run for their money just as a team out of nowhere, Team Miscellaneous made up of four players who all volunteered to play but who had never even met before game day, gave the Avengers plenty of white knuckle moments as well.

SCILS BOWL wishes to thank Jack Grasso who performed as MC and Dean Gus Friedrich who scored all seven games. And a final thanks to Daniel Kubey for helping with a myriad of duties from the design of the new SCILS Bowl Trophy to keeping his father organized through the entire event.

There are rumors of SCILS BOWL returning as early at the 25th SCILS Anniversary in October, but if not then, then surely next spring once again. Thank you for your attention and as always with SCILS BOWL, please, no wagering.
