Spring 2010 Issue

Kalyani Chadha, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.

Scholars and Graduate students are invited to submit papers on the topic of “Digital Culture and International Communication”. Specific areas of interest to the editors include:

  1. History: How might typical elements of digital culture (web 2.0, social media, consumer generated content, mobile media and gaming) be historicized in an international context.
  2. Representation: How do digital culture environments construct the world? What are the ranges of discursive constructs in digital culture across cultural / national and global contexts? Studies that examine non-western digital content are especially welcome.
  3. Theory: Stand-alone theoretical essays that frame the field of digital culture
    using international communication theory (for example, political economy, cultural studies, post-colonial studies, globalization theory).

Each issue of GMJ has THREE sections—Invited Papers, Refereed Papers and Student Papers. Papers generated from this call for papers will be considered for the
Refereed and Student sections. Scholars should send complete papers to akavoori@gmail.com and put in the subject line "Paper for GMJ issue on global digital culture.” Graduate Students should send complete papers to kchadha@jmail.umd.edu and put in the subject line "Student Paper for GMJ issue on global digital culture. All scholarly articles should be written according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, latest edition.
