IMSI 2009 --October 16-18, 2009

We are now reviewing applications for IMSI 2009.  All applicants will be notified by email in mid-August whether they are accepted or not.   Have a nice summer!

The Invitational Masters Student Institute is designed for students in (or recent graduates of) Masters of Communication / Media Studies programs who are seriously considering going on for their Ph.D. in Communication or Media Studies. IMSI will:

• Pay for most travel expenses of participants (including hotel, most meals, and $250 travel stipend)
• Provide two days of specialized programs by Rutgers Communication and Media Studies faculty  
• Provide faculty feedback on a current or contemplated scholarly project
• Create social /networking opportunities

Our institute theme draws attention to the challenges and opportunities in meshing scholarship and engagement with the world around us.  Workshops and programs at IMSI 2009 will focus on making these connections and examining how current and future research in Communication and Media Studies accomplishes this aim.
