A former journalist and grassroots organizer from Los Angeles, her research focus looks at consumption of media and its affect on imagining, creating and performing identity amongst members of the African Disapora in the NYC metropolitan area.

In her spare time, she has become addicted to Bikram Yoga, Biking, and Sci-Fi literature written by women of African descent.
