The editor of the Los Angeles Times, Russ Stanton said in a talk at USC that their website revenue was now more than the cost of their editorial payroll. Unless I misunderstand, I think this means they would be viable as a web-only paper, if bankruptcy clears away all their other costs. Perhaps that's a better ending than any currently obvious alternative.
