First Annual SCILS Spring Essay Contest
Cash prizes of up to $350 Open to SCILS Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors Topics: - Seniors: Finding a Job in Today's Society: A Student's View
- Juniors: Picking a Major: Easy or Difficult?
- Sophomores: The Utopian University: A Student's Concept
 Style: - Your personal opinions, observations, points-of-view, recollections, criticisms, advice
- Compelling premises and conclusions, logical rationale, supportive facts, thoughtful, imaginative
- Well written, organized, proper grammar, spelling, word choices, syntax, transitions
 Format: - Maximum of five pages, double spaced, Word, Times New Roman, 12 pt
- Must include cover page: Student name, e-mail, class, topic, centered on page
 Judges: - Winners determined by a panel of judges consisting of SCILS faculty scholars and outside professionals.
- All essays submitted to judges anonymously.
 Prizes: - Juniors & Seniors: $350 (1st Place), $250 (2nd Place) and $150 (3rd Place)
- Sophomores: $250 (1st Place), $150 (2nd Place) and $100 (3rd Place)
