Don Riesett '68 Journalism

Conventionally trained in New York, entrepreneurially seasoned in Baltimore and internationally skilled in London, Don Riesett has worked with some of the world’s most sophisticated marketing companies, and some of its most basic.

In the mid ‘60s, he attended Rutgers on a football scholarship and discovered an interest in writing that led him to Madison Avenue and the fascinating world of advertising. It was the beginning of a 30-year trek that saw him become a senior partner at one of America’s largest independent advertising agencies—Doner—and the CEO of its international division based in London.

In 2000, Mr. Riesett returned home to Baltimore to run his own business and to write. His writing has appeared, for example, in The South Carolina Review, Fox Cry Review, Red Wheelbarrow Literary Magazine, The Writers Post Journal, Palo Alto Review, North Atlantic Review, and The Home Planet News. He created a marketing consultancy called To The Point and co-created (with his wife) a communications company called Outlaw Advertising. Don also works as a strategic adviser to Neiman Group, one of Pennsylvania’s premier advertising and public relations agencies.

Mr. Riesett’s portfolio of national and international experience spans virtually every business category. His work was positively featured in one of the seminal books on advertising, “Where The Suckers Moon,” by Randall Rothenberg, a former New York Times editor.
