T. SEAN HERBERT is an Associate Producer at CBS News 60 Minutes Weeknight where he develops and produces stories for correspondent Vicki Mabrey. He has been with the broadcast on and off since start-up back in October 1998. Over the past five years he has also worked with Dan Rather, Mike Wallace, Steve Kroft, Ed Bradley, Morley Safer, and Charlie Rose and has produced segments for 48 Hours Investigates, The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, and The Early Show.
Prior to his recent return to 60 Minutes Weeknight, he was a producer at CBS News Special Events, responsible for hiring and then managing the team of military and weapons analysts' used for the broadcast coverage of the war in Iraq. In fact, during his 12-year career at CBS News, he has played an important role in all military coverage.
At 48 Hours Investigates, Herbert produced, among others, an hour in the aftermath of the September 11 th terrorist attacks with correspondent Peter Van Sant. He also traveled to Bogota, Colombia, where he produced a story on the international kidnap and ransom trade with correspondent, Erin Moriarty.
He joined CBS News in October 1991 in the Election & Survey Unit, where he contributed to all election-related coverage until 1998. He also spent two years on the Foreign Desk as an Associate Producer after the 1996 General Election.
He received a B.A. in political science and journalism from Rutgers University, and an M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University.
While in graduate school, he interned at WBBM-TV in Chicago, and worked as a print reporter for the The Home News in New Brunswick, New Jersey. As an undergraduate, he worked at USA Today, and spent 1988 working in the Polling Unit at ABC News.
