John Hurley has served as the Director of the Woodbridge Public Library since 1997.
He has worked in various roles in Public Librarianship: Media Services, Children’s Services, Adult Services, Automation and Administration. John’s professional activities include service on the NJLA Executive Committee, President of CODI (the Dynix ILS Users Group), President of the Board of Infolink Regional Library Cooperative.
John has also been an active alumnus of Rutgers where he served as President of the GSLIS Alumni Association and President of the University-wide Alumni Federation. He is currently a Member of the University Board of Trustees. During his tenure at the Alumni Federation, he represented all Alumni on the Search Committee for the University President. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the H. Gilbert Kelley Foundation, a body that provide Fellowships for students in the MLS program.
John earned his B.A. and M.L.S. from Rutgers. He has worked at the Plainfield Public Library, the Westfield Memorial Library and the Somerset County Library before his appointment at Woodbridge.
