Ralf BierigRalf Bierig came to SC&I in Spring 2008. He received a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Furtwangen in Germany. During his studies, he worked as an intern for IBM and Lexware GmbH in Germany. His PhD was at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland where he investigated contextual effects and the ability of context to improve mobile search. During his PhD he worked as a research assistant for two large-scale EU-IST research projects. His research interest is focused on personalized and context-aware computing with a special interest in user-centered evaluation and mobile information systems. |

Michael J. ColeMichael Cole entered the SC&I Ph.D program in 2003. He holds a BS in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His interests focus on user-centered interactive information retrieval, especially personalization of information systems through user models based on cognitive aspects of information seeking. |

Chang LiuChang Liu entered the SC&I Ph.D. program in Fall 2007. She received a BS in LIS and a BS in Economics from Peking University, and a MS in LIS from Peking University. During her study, she had an internship in Baidu.com Inc., working as a commercial analyst to analyze the users search behavior and related commercial data, and in charge of promoting the CTR of some keywords. She is now working as a Graduate Assistant for the Poodle Project. |

Jingjing LiuJingjing Liu entered the SC&I Ph.D. program at Rutgers University in the Spring of 2005. She received her MLIS from the University of Southern Mississippi, and her BA in Information Resources Management from Renmin University of China. Her research interest includes Personalization of information retrieval, HCI, Human information behavior, Digital libraries, and cognitive aspects of information search. She is working on her dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Belkin on "Personalizing information retrieval using task features, topic knowledge, and task products". |
