New MCIS Students
Rochelle received her BA in Communication from Rutgers, The State University. She currently works for Canon, USA, as the SE Regional Account Manager and has spent several years in this position, meeting and exceeding revenue expectations. Rochelle has also held several positions in sales training, and is CompTIA certified as a Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+). These positions include Senior Manager of Training for Cendant Corporation, as well as Director of Training at Citistreet, a division of CitiGroup. Having spent many years working for corporate America, Rochelle has been directly involved with organizational communication, whether within the corporation itself, its customers, or the community.
Over the past 12 years Jessica has held numerous roles in the field of communications, from branding and advertising to special events and marketing. She spent 6 years working at a major Children's publishing house marketing Magic Tree House and Dr. Seuss books, which come in handy when reading to her twin boys Lucas and William. Jessica now works as Assistant Director of Marketing Communications in the Department of University Relations at Rutgers University.
As an experienced professional who has worked in the area of communication design for Procter & Gamble creating and developing healthcare marketing communications for over 20 years, Vince has worked on many upstream and discovery based projects that require a high level of understanding regarding research methods and processes. His skill set includes and concentrates on the ability to develop organizational capital through knowledge development. Now along with his professional career (currently the Principle Consultant & Communication Strategist, StoryWise Research & Design), he is pursuing graduate level academic understanding in the areas of communication theory and research methods, so as to sharpen and broaden his skill set and to eventually become a higher-level communication consultant, researcher, and strategist.
Steven, a native of South Carolina, is a graduate of Rutgers School of Arts & Sciences. Dukes, who also goes by the name Steve, studied journalism and media while supplementing the curriculum with technology, art, and Asian culture and language. Issues connected to journalism were discussed and written about alongside sculpture pedagogy, and reporting assessments were conducted while studying script-writing.
Felicia is from Toronto, Canada. She graduated from University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History and English. After graduating, she earned her Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate and taught abroad. Felicia continued her education and obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Corporate Communications at Seneca College in Toronto. While at Seneca College, Felicia was selected to be part of a team of six students out of class of 100 to develop the communications strategy for the Centre for Academic Excellence (CAE) at Seneca College. Felicia has worked at Public Relations firms in Toronto and looks forward to building on her experiences through her studies.
Asha graduated in May 2011 from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. After holding various internships at marketing and public relations agencies, upon graduation she began working in the marketing communications department at Philips Lighting Company. In her most recent role, Asha supported the global communications team at Deloitte, mainly focusing on public relations. She is currently pursuing her MCIS with a concentration in Digital Media, and is looking forward to garnering diversified work experience in the Communications field.
Krista is a self-identified changemaker, working at Rutgers University in the department of Student Life with undergraduate students on creating social change and volunteering in their communities. Krista received a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education and Student Personnel Administration from New York University in May 2010. She also graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University in May 2008 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Psychology. Krista is a lifelong learner and enjoys reading, writing, and is looking forward to gaining more knowledge in the MCIS Program.
Terra earned a B.S.Sp. in Political Communication/Campaign Management with a minor in Women’s Studies from Emerson College. After working for the NY State Assembly, she pursued her J.D. and LL.M in Environmental and Natural Resource Law. Terra is licensed with the New York and Vermont State Bars. She has worked in the non-profit, government and private sectors. In addition to her work as an attorney, she a certified holistic health and life coach and an experienced registered yoga teacher. She is an active volunteer with Phi Sigma Sigma National Women’s Sorority, PROTECT (formerly Residents Committee to Protect the Adirondacks) and member of the International Environmental Communications Association. Currently, Terra works for Rutgers University, in the office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Corporate Contracts Division.
Alex graduated from the University of Connecticut in May of 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. During his time at UConn, he maintained a 3.4 GPA within his major. After graduation, he spent time working as a Data Analyst for the State of Connecticut’s Department of Public Health. He is also the head writer for a website that covers health, fitness, and the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
Susan has a BA in writing from Queens College, a Mini-MBA in Strategic Marketing from the Rutgers Center for Management Development, and a Non-profit and Public Management Certificate from the Rutgers School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education. After a career in journalism, Susan’s professional path evolved into marketing and entrepreneurship. Ultimately, Susan’s career choices combined her skills with her love for the community focus of non-profits. Susan believes non-profits are realizing they must operate similarly to their for-profit counterparts and the MCIS program will bolster her effectiveness in accomplishing this in her management roles with such organizations. Currently the Executive Director of the Hunterdon Helpline Inc., the non-profit Information and Referral Service for Hunterdon County, Susan is also the host of the internet radio show, "Hands Across Hunterdon," and a member of several non-profit committees and boards. In her spare time, Susan manages her horse farm, teaching training and riding. She breeds and shows Collies and is the admitted “helicopter” mother of quadruplets who also are pursuing their graduate studies.
Maria graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University in May 2012. She was enrolled in the English Honors Program and received her B.A. in English. Majoring in English ignited her passion for nineteenth-century British literature. She wrote her undergraduate thesis on free indirect discourse and the ambiguity of perspective in Jane Austen’s novels and their film adaptations. Maria is an avid writer and often writes for the Westfield Leader in Westfield, New Jersey.
Cassandra is an alumna of Douglass College at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, with a B.A. in Spanish and minor in Music. She has over a decade of experience with administration and Marketing & Communications in the arts & culture sector, having worked for diverse cultural institutions such as the Roundabout Theatre Company, Ballet Hispanico, El Museo del Barrio and The 92ndStreet Y. She is a classically trained soprano, and currently works in the Visual Arts Department of Mason Gross School of the Arts.
Jason received a bachelor's degree in Sociology/Anthropology from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 1997. After graduating, he worked as an editor at Reed Elsevier for several years. In 2001, he joined Rutgers University Press where he served as an Assistant Editor of the "Encyclopedia of New Jersey." Jason is currently a Senior Program Coordinator in the Dean's Office of the Graduate School-New Brunswick (GSNB), Rutgers University. Currently, his primary responsibilities are assisting with graduate student academic support and services, managing the TA Project, and serving as webmaster for several GSNB websites.
Sonia Rita is currently the Director of Communications for Points Group, a marketing and consulting firm in Morristown, NJ, where she specializes in public relations and social media strategies. She has several years of experience in public relations, but began her career has a reporter for a statewide chain of weekly newspapers in Connecticut. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Culture from Clark University in Worcester, MA.
A May 2006 graduate of media and journalism studies, Carissa Sestito returns to the School of Communication and Information in Spring 2013 to study digital media under the MCIS program. Since 2006, Carissa has worked for news media outlets and marketing departments, including CNN America's entertainment beat, MTV Networks, and Rutgers. She currently works as a marketing and outreach coordinator for the Rutgers' Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT), a position she has held for the past four years.
James studied Communication and Information as an undergraduate at both Montclair State University and Rutgers University. After graduation in May 2012, he decided to focus on expanding his research skills and knowledge of theory. He hopes to propel himself towards a career in research and teaching Communication Studies at the college level by obtaining his MCIS degree and eventually a Ph.D.
Tasha Coleman-Tharrington graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey with a B.A. in Communications-Television Broadcasting and Production. Tasha has over 12 years of experience in television production. She has worked in various production positions for talk shows before working as a News Assistant and Field Producer at My9 News in Secaucus, N.J. Tasha is currently employed at Rutgers University as the Editorial Media Specialist for the Rutgers Television Network (RU-tv) where she trains and supervises student colleagues in the Master Control and Production areas.
Dan is a meteorologist, and has worked as an on-air weather personality at TV and radio stations from Upstate New York to Oklahoma and back to New Jersey. He is originally from Jackson, New Jersey, and earned a B.S. in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. In 2009, Dan earned the prestigious American Meteorological Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation, granted to weathercasters who demonstrate scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations. Dan is currently a meteorologist and technical assistant for the Office of the New Jersey State Climatologist at Rutgers University. He also freelances as an on-air meteorologist for local cable TV network News 12 New Jersey. Dan lives in South Plainfield with his dog Doppler.
Current MCIS Students
Rachel has just graduated from Rutgers with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Human Resource Management. She is from Washington, New Jersey, which is a small town located about 45 minutes northeast of Rutgers. She chose to attend Rutgers University because of the excellent professors and opportunities that it offers, as well as how close it is to her home. Rachel has completed two internships while attending Rutgers; one of which was at the New Jersey State Governor’s Office, as a Governor’s Aide and the other, at Princeton AlumniCorps.; where she was the Assistant to the Executive Director.
Pamela recently graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University in May 2012 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a minor in Sociology. During her time as an undergraduate, she worked part time at Rutgers Housing and Residence Life. She is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and Tau Sigma National Honor Society for transfer students. Pamela has interests in strategic organizational communication.
Karen graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations. As an undergraduate, she gained experience in corporate communications, organizational development, and university relations through internships with Office Depot and the UF News Bureau. Most recently, Karen served as a research intern at Chaloner Associates, an executive search firm that specializes in communications, public relations, and marketing recruitment.
Fanny graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French. She then pursued a Master of Arts degree in English at the same institution and worked as a graduate teaching assistant for two years, teaching two sections of freshman composition each semester. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate career, she was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Don Leigh Cravens Memorial Award and the Emory D. Estes Scholarship.
Kristen is an August 2011 graduate from the Pennsylvania State University. With a background in Supply Chain and Information Systems/Communications, she graduated first in her class for the public relations major and served as Commencement Marshall. Her work experience entails a consumer beauty marketing co-op and corporate communications internship at Johnson & Johnson. She recently completed a position as an E-marketing Specialist at DuPont Nemours & Company. As an undergraduate, Kristen was an active distance runner in Penn State’s Club XC Team and served as a media relations captain for homecoming. Post-graduation she developed her own Wordpress Blog, Tales with a Touch of Class, and volunteered as a second grade CCD teacher for her church.
Natasha is a graduate from The College of New Jersey where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. She successfully completed four years as a Bonner Community Scholar serving 1200 hours of service in the community, working in the areas of community engaged learning, homelessness, juvenile justice, immigration and services trips.
In May 2011, Natasha was awarded The Leadership & Advocacy Award by TCNJ's Communication Studies Department. She is also a member of the first independent Latin sorority in the nation also known as Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc.
Currently, Natasha is the Coordinator for the Health and Human Services Division of the Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement. The Center is part of a network supported by the Bonner Foundation.
Ruth is a very focused, hard working, and optimistic young lady. Having achieved an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Linguistics at University of Ghana, she worked as a personal secretary at World Prayer Centre from August 2010 to August 2011. She then decided to pursue a graduate degree at Rutgers University in the MCIS program.
Christine received her B.A. in Sociology, with a minor in English, from the College of Staten Island. She currently works in the Sociology Department at Princeton University, editing and submitting books and articles for publication as well as preparing Power Point presentations for lectures and seminars. Prior to working at Princeton, Christine worked in sales and has published various essays and stories for both adults and children.
Hannah graduated from West Virginia University in 2009, earning a BA in Sociology and Anthropology with a concentration in Social Inequality and Social Development, and a minor in Communications. She completed additional coursework in video production. As an undergraduate, she worked in Malaysia in an orphanage and a rehab center for drug addicts. Later, she worked in Australia and New Zealand with youth, teaching them life skills through improvisation.
Shikha is a graduate in Bachelors of Commerce (with Honors) from Delhi University, India.
Her own incubus with breast cancer has motivated her to spread mass awareness regarding appropriate health consciousness and early diagnosis of life-threatening diseases that can help people worldwide to alleviate the pain of delayed treatment procedures.
Chinez is a Cum Laude Honors graduate of William Paterson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She has recently interned with The Hip Event, a boutique public relations firm in Montclair, New Jersey, while also working part-time to finance her college career. She is currently looking for part-time to full-time work in the fields of Communications and Academic Affairs.
Suzanne graduated from the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences in 2012 with a dual Bachelors of Science in Environmental Policy, Institutions, and Behavior, and Journalism and Media Studies. While being active in student government, various student organizations, and the honors program, Suzanne co-founded an interdisciplinary non-profit arts organization.
Chelsea Hudson graduated in May 2012 from Rutgers University with honors in the School of Communication and Information, majoring in Communication. She enjoyed volunteering with many organizations on campus, including Residence Hall Association, National Residence Hall Honorary, and RU SURE. Chelsea interned at MTV in the Public Relations department and had the opportunity to attend the MTV Movie Awards and the Video Music Awards. She also interned at Madison Square Garden, and worked in the Concerts and Entertainment department, assisting in concert planning and execution. She looks forward to working in the Entertainment field after her education career is completed.
Kelsey is a 2012 magna cum laude graduate of Penn State University. She has a bachelor’s degree in public relations and minors in both business and Spanish. At University Park, she was involved with the Daily Collegian, Penn State’s daily newspaper; the Public Relations Student Society of America, and Happy Valley Communications, a student-run PR firm. She also participated in the Penn State Dance Marathon, standing for 46 hours to help conquer pediatric cancer. Kelsey has interned for the American Cancer Society, Penn State College of Communications, Gregory FCA, and Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson.
Steven is a 2008 graduate of Montclair State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. After graduating, he spent four years working as a reporter for The Progress newspaper covering state and local news. In 2012, Steven won a first place award with the New Jersey Press Association for news coverage. Steven has an interest in studying the future of communications and journalism in a networked world.
Joshua is a recent graduate of Montclair State University’s College of the Arts, with a major in Communication Studies, with a concentration in Organizational Communication. During his studies at Montclair, he was a member of the Communication Honor Society Lambda Pi Eta. He also participated in extracurricular activities including the Montclair State University Gamers and the Japan Club.
Karyn has been a professional journalist since 1984, the last three of those years as a “permalancer.” A native of Chicago, Ms. Collins specializes in features writing including fashion, beauty and arts and entertainment. In addition to her work as a journalist she is an educator and serves as an adjunct at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, NJ, and a faculty member at the King Centre for the Performing Arts in Wanaque and Mahwah, NJ. She is also a trained diversity awareness program facilitator. Her writing has been published in numerous media outlets including the Associated Press, New Jersey Monthly, Jet Magazine, Dance Magazine, Life and Beauty Weekly online, Inside Jersey Magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Newark Star-Ledger, Dance Teacher Magazine, Madame Noire Online, In Jersey Magazine, Dance Studio Life, the Charlotte Observer, the Asbury Park Press and the Camden Courier Post.
Megan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Professional Writing from Kutztown University in 2006. After graduating, she was hired as a communications specialist at Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Tibotec Therapeutics, then later worked in a public relations agency for three years. She currently works at KPMG LLP as a senior associate in corporate communications, supporting both internal and external communications teams in implementing strategic communications programs that support the firm in achieving its goals.
Malaika is a cum laude graduate of Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management, earning a B.B.A in Marketing. She now serves as a healthcare sales representative at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Philadelphia, PA. She began her career at Pfizer as an INROADS Scholar in 2006, completing a sales internship for two consecutive summers and earning a full-time position following graduation. Recognized as a top performer, Malaika received a Regional Performance Award in her first year of full-time employment for achieving outstanding results in a challenging market; subsequently, in 2010 she won three consecutive quarterly sales contests.
Samantha graduated from Rutgers University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications. While at Rutgers, she was involved in several academic and extracurricular activities such as: work study at Alexander Library, Zeta Tau Alpha, Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Society, and copy editor at The Daily Targum. During her time as an undergraduate, she interned at local lifestyle magazine, Lehigh Valley Style, where she had works published in several bi-monthly issues.
Samann graduated from Cornell University in May of 2010 and received her Bachelors of Science degree in Communication with a minor in Cultural Studies.
Michelle is a recent graduate from Rutgers University majoring in Communication with a minor in French. She was accepted into the Joint Degree program in her senior year. As an undergrad she served on the executive board of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and was a member of the National Communication Honor Society, Lambda Pi Eta.
John graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a BA in Communication. Over the course of his undergraduate studies, he maintained over a 3.5 GPA, received four distinct honors awards, and is currently a member of both the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honors Society and the ODK National Leadership Honors Society. In addition, John has worked on numerous school related projects, including short films, websites, and applications.
Katie is currently editorial/media specialist for Alumni Relations in the Rutgers University Alumni Association. Among her duties, she is charged with serving as webmaster for Ralumni.com, as well as for developing marketing plans, graphics, and text for the RUAA’s many events and programs. She previously served as assistant director of web strategies and communications at Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey, and as program associate for the National Center for Learning Disabilities in New York, NY.
Faith has worked in the field of communication for more than 10 years with stints in branding, advertising, marketing, and higher education communication, where her work ranged from copywriting and editing to communication planning and project management. She has spent the last four years as assistant director of creative services in the Department of University Relations at Rutgers University.
Denise is a graduate of West Virginia University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Sociology. She was awarded the President’s List, receiving a G.P.A. of 4.0, from Fall 2007- Spring 2009. Denise graduated from WVU Cum Laude and was involved in several academic and extracurricular activities including: Pi Sigma Sigma Political Science Public Policy Honor Society, West Virginia University's Student Government Association, Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society, and the Mountaineer Maniacs. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and sports.
Adam graduated from Ramapo College of NJ in 2005 with his BA in Communication, focused primarily on marketing and public relations. Upon graduating, he spent several years working in account management for two New Jersey advertising agencies.
Fei got her bachelor’s degree in Editing and Publishing in the School of Information Management and a double degree in Economics both in Wuhan University, China. During her time of study, she obtained a well rounded picture of the Chinese media community with a special understanding and concern in publications’ marketing, digital publishing and communication.
Christopher, from Piscataway, New Jersey, is a recent graduate of Kean University in Union, New Jersey. He majored in Recreation Administration and focusing on the Sports Management aspect of the major. Chris graduated Magna Cum Laude with over a 3.65 GPA. Over his collegian career, he has been named to the Dean’s list over six times and is a member of the Delta Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education.
Rohini graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English and subsequently worked in such diverse fields as public relations, education and fashion marketing. Her internship at the Philadelphia Orchestra made her realize the importance of the arts. In the same vein, she began a travel and lifestyle blog in 2009 and finds herself inspired by the sights and sounds of India, China, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, some of the places she has traveled to. She lives in Manhattan and hopes to start her own travel communication and public relations company someday.
Pallavi Guha has been a professional journalist for the last five years. Pallavi has experience working in television, radio, print and web media in UK, India, and the USA. She started her journalism career working for a regional 24 hours news channel (Zee-Aakash Chobbish Ghanta) in India. Later, Pallavi also worked for BBC News & Television in London as a Researcher, BBC World Service News Radio and The Times of India in Kolkata as Senior Correspondent/Copy-Editor. In the US, Pallavi works as a Feature Writer for Demand Studios and Helium. Apart from that she is also a Co-Editor of a quarterly published English magazine of a non-profit organization in NJ, USA.
Kim has 20+ years experience in international business, has traveled extensively and lived in North Africa for nine years. She received her BA, Psychology from The College of Staten Island, NY in 2000. Kim is eager to continue her education and is excited to be part of the MCIS program.
Nicole recently graduated cum laude from Rutgers University, with a double major in Communication and Political Science. During her time as an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Japan, worked as a research assistant in the Communication department, and wrote for the Daily Targum as a contributing writer.
Judith has an extensive career in direct-to-consumer retail marketing spanning the last 20 years. Her most recent corporate role was as Marketing Director and specialist in private label proprietary credit and partnership marketing for 6 brands at Redcats USA, a division of Pinoult-Printemps-Redoute. Judith’s wide management experience includes direct mail, catalog media circulation, database and mailing segmentation strategy, print and web creative management, web a/b testing and UAT.
Ziyi graduated with honors from Beijing International Studies University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in English Interpreting and Translation. Throughout her academic career she has been recognized as a “Merit Student” several times. She also took part in a summer study abroad program at Monterey Institute of International Studies studying Cross-Cultural Communication and Interpreting in Monterey, CA.
Nicole graduated from Villanova University in May of 2010. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and first in her major of Marketing from the Villanova School of Business. While at Villanova she was a member of the Track and Cross Country teams earning 3 All-American Honors and winning an NCAA National Cross Country Team Title in 2009.
Francine Huff is a graduate of Northwestern University where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She has had a successful career as a newspaper journalist, including as a bureau chief at the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, Pittsburgh Press and Gannett. She is the founder of Super Savvy Publishing LLC, which has provided editorial services for a variety of Web sites, publications and organizations.
Stephen has been active in politics since he was 13 - a decade of work that has seen him earn press coverage in major national newspapers, become the youngest journalist to cover a national Party convention, work with prominent Governors and U.S. Senators, and win election to public office at the age of 19.
Nicole earned her BA degree in 2006 from Howard University, where she studied fashion merchandising and print journalism, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. While a student at Howard, Nicole pursued her love of fashion and journalism through internships at ESSENCE Magazine, Women’s Wear Daily, Macy’s Merchandising Group, and the Black Retail Action Group in New York City. Nicole also spent a semester abroad during her junior year studying fashion marketing in London, England.
Miccheah Nichols received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a minor in Sociology from Livingston College at Rutgers University. Throughout her academic career she has received many awards and achieved many successes at Rutgers, including a nomination for the Rising Women of Rutgers award and induction into Delta Epsilon Iota, an academic honor society.
Dean Schomburg is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Fordham University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree with a major in African & African-American Studies. Dean completed his senior year at Rutgers New Brunswick where he earned an Academic Excellence Award for placing in the top 10-percent of his class. Brooklyn-born Dean has had a successful career in broadcasting, where he was a radio news anchor for the ABC Radio Network headquartered in New York City and a Newscaster/Writer for the Wall Street Journal Radio Network. He also completed stints at New York City classical radio stations WQXR and WNCN as an announcer. Dean is a grandson of noted bibliophile Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, whose personal book collection formed the basis for what is now the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture headquartered in Harlem, New York. In his spare time Dean is a jazz aficionado who plays flute and alto saxophone and attends jazz festivals ranging from Montreal to Dubai.
Quentin Robinson, born in Orange, New Jersey, recently graduated from . He majored in Information Technology and Informatics and graduated with over a 3.5 major GPA. During his junior and senior years at Rutgers University, Quentin worked as an intern at Verizon Wireless. He currently is a full-time employee of Verizon Wireless, working in their Network Implementation department as a project manager.
Robert Drucker graduated from Livingston College at Rutgers University in 2009 with a concentration in Communication and Sociology. He graduated with communication honors and was the 2009 recipient of the Livingston College Pride Award.
Jeremee Johnson is currently an editorial/media specialist in the Department of University Relations’ Office of Creative Services. With more than 15 years of industry experience in the nonprofit, small business, corporate and government sectors, she has served in various leadership positions, including managing editor for a local weekly newspaper and a national youth publication. A graduate of SC&I, Jeremee majored in journalism and mass media; and, she is looking forward to continuing advanced study at Rutgers with a focus on new media and media literacy.
Nicole White graduated with a Bachelors degree in Communication from The College of New Jersey in the spring of 2004. After graduating, Nicole interned at 100.3 the Beat, Philadelphia and two years later relocated to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in Broadcast Journalism. Nicole was successful in Los Angeles, having worked for, CBS, Showtime, Ion Media Networks and various other entertainment companies. After a year and a half in Los Angeles she moved back to New Jersey.
Lidia (Lida) Little has moved to the US after completing 3 years of undergraduate work in journalism in her native Russia. She graduated from SCILS with the BA in Communication, completing her studies with highest honors. Since graduating, Lida has been working at A.M. Best Company conducting market research.
Amanda C. Putzer received her B.S. in Political Science from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. After graduation, Amanda began working for The National Center for State Courts (NCSC), a non-profit think tank that provides services, research and information to courts nationwide. In her position as a Knowledge & Information Specialist, Amanda contributed to a wide variety of projects and publications. She was also selected to represent the NCSC to perform on-site research and collect data on court functions, services, case loads and trial management in courthouses across the country.
After moving to the United States at the age of 20 from Hungary, Barbara attended college to learn more about her passion: the visual arts. She studied graphic design, illustration, and received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers’ University College in 2004, where she majored in Art History.
Upon graduation, Barbara worked as a graphic designer for various companies, including advertising and yearbook agencies. She is currently employed in a managerial position at Staples, Inc. where she plans to contribute on an executive level upon graduating from the MCIS program as a corporate communication specialist. Due to Barbara’s background, she will concentrate on visual communications while attending the program, utilizing her artistic talents.
Chad is returning to academia after two years in the corporate world. While attending Rutgers, Chad plans to continue working full time for his current employer, Dow Jones Reprints Solutions. At Dow Jones, Chad works on a team to construct and integrate marketing strategies across the various mediums of communications to increase sales.
As an undergraduate at the State University of New York at Cortland, Chad double majored in communications and social philosophy programs, graduating with honors. During his tenur, Chad spoke at many different conferences, including the Alliance of Universities for Democracy Conference in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. While at Cortland, Chad was the recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship Award, as well as the Outstanding Achievement: Mass Media and Society Award.
Jie received her undergraduate degree in Journalism from Shanghai International Studies University in China. As a student, she has also been a freelancer for 21st Century Business Herald for 3 years. She interviews people from different countries with the help of the internet, and writes stories in luxury, fashion, arts or travel every week for the newspaper while occasionally contributes to some fashion, antique and business magazines. She has also learned a lot from the market research institutions, public relation agencies and CSR departments in multinational companies with which she used to cooperate.
Uzo Odenigbo graduated with an International Studies degree from The College of New Jersey in May of 2006. Her first full time position was as a Sales Assistant at RGE Monitor, an Economic information aggregation company. Then in February of 2008, she started working as an Immigration Administrator at Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank.
Her interest in Journalism began when she was young. The potential that information had to change the world was always what she sought to understand. Uzo is grateful to have the opportunity to study the role that information plays in the world in which we live.
Mindy received her B.A. in English from Rutgers College, and currently works as Program Manager for Princeton University in The Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies (at the Woodrow Wilson School), and The Center for the Study of Social Organizations (CSSO, Sociology Department). Her job includes budget oversight, grant reporting, website maintenance, and event planning and administration. Mindy is in the process of developing a new website for CSSO.
