Journalism and Media Studies Students to Help Launch Live Streaming Network for Rutgers Athletics
In a joint venture between the Rutgers Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Rutgers School of Communication and Information, ScarletKnights.com will launch the internet-streaming network Knightvision Broadband, beginning with a men’s and women’s soccer doubleheader on Friday, September 4 at Yurcak Field. ScarletKnights.com will launch its own television network on the website to stream live coverage of various Rutgers Athletics events throughout the 2009-2010 school year. “The launch of Knightvision is another important step forward in our constant effort to deliver content and connect with our fans in more ways than ever before” said Tim Pernetti, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. “This streaming network will provide national exposure for all 24 Rutgers sports, while at the same time bringing the University and Athletics together with the creation of credited internships to students in the School of Communication and Information.” The production crew for Knightvision will consist of student interns from the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers University. The games will be delivered with a multi-camera production, graphics, pre-game and post-game content and interviews. The games will also be available for students to watch on RU-tv on-campus, and will be archived on Scarletknights.com. This fall, KnightVision Broadband will feature live men’s and women’s soccer matches in addition to live volleyball matches. Field Hockey will be shown on same-day tape delay. In addition, Rutgers will continue to provide coverage of Greg Schiano’s weekly football press conferences, highlights of every Rutgers Football game, and weekly episodes of Inside Rutgers Football. During the month of September, Rutgers Athletics will launch a complete redesign of ScarletKnights.com. Check ScarletKnights.com for program listings of live events on KnightVision Broadband
