Reference Librarian & Library Webmaster

Position Information
Description: The Gould Law Library of Touro Law Center is seeking candidates for the position of Reference Librarian & Library Webmaster. The successful candidate will provide reference and research services to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Friends of the Library. The Law Center is located in Central Islip, on the south shore of Long Island, an hour from New York City. The technologically up-to-date facility is adjacent to federal and state court buildings. Fifty full- time committed and enthusiastic law faculty members provide a practice- oriented educational curriculum to approximately 800 students in both full-time day and part-time evening programs. The library contains over 430,000 volumes and equivalents, and provides access to many electronic resources. The staff includes ten professional librarians and twelve support staff. More information on Touro Law Center is available at http://www.tourolaw.edu Under the direction of the Head of Public Services, the librarian in this position will be responsible for providing reference service and research support, including: sharing reference desk hours; providing research training for law students; maintaining the library?s web pages; coordinating access to the library?s subscription databases; utilizing online social networking to publicize library activities; assisting faculty members with online course management; creating online legal research tutorials; keeping current with evolving technologies; participating in professional organizations; and contributing to law library scholarship. Requirements: Required: J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school; MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited institution; and strong writing skills. Candidates possessing one degree and currently studying to complete the second degree are welcome to apply. Preferred: Knowledge of the Innovative Interfaces integrated library system. Although web editing experience is preferred, candidates with an interest in technology who wish to develop expertise will be given consideration.

Salary Information:
