| Description: |
The work is the examination, processing, and correcting approximately
18,000 records being transferred from the old IEEE History Center
database to our new Past Perfect archival software database. The
incumbent will need to examine and correct each record, to assure that
each record conforms to standard archival practice, with the appropriate
record fields populated, and with a consistent set of keywords. Where
needed, records will have to be checked against the actual material.
The position may require initial cataloging of material not described in
the transferred records. Over 5,500 records, mostly descriptions of
photographs, will need to be linked to digital files, so that staff will
be able to see the images. Additional digital records may need to be
created. |
| Requirements: |
Master of Arts in Library Science or equivalent degree/experience
required. Familiarity with standard archival practice and standard
archival software required. Familiarity with Past Perfect software
preferred. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
required. Good judgment, good computer skills as well as good writing
and other communications skills required. While this is a full time
temporary position, flexible reduced hours for up to nine months may be
possible.

Must be able to work 40 hours per week and for at least the next six
months. |
