Email Messages Requesting Additions to the Site

These messages were transferred without change. They appear exactly as received, although personal and institutional identities have been eliminated. Key elements in the message are highlighted in red.

Many suggestions are notices of additional sites that might be linked to my pages, but there are also rather preemptory demands for additional subjects to be included. In some instances, teachers or students want to contribute to a website and this can be a good thing. Others may send the content without realizing the amount of html coding and design work required.

Listen I want you to know that I tried to find authors of two books. William Armstrong who wrote Sounder and Joan Bauer who wrote sticks. I would have liked to find out something on these two authors. But they were not on your web page. Do you think there is a way for you to somehow get information to me. I would greatly appriciate it very much. And how come you don't have Michael Chrichton (he wrote jurrasic park) I mean he is pretty well known. I would think he would be on there. Because a lot of people are interested in the books he writes. And I mean a lot!
Please excuse my spelling, I was in a hurry.
A Very Big Book Fan,
[A male student]

I am a children's author and would appreciate being included in your author website. What kinds of information should I send to you? Thank you!

Dear Dr. Vandergrift,
All 83 author studies have come in, but so far about eight students have brought in the parental release form. We had a very interesting discussion about "sharing information." Some of them are worried that a student will copy their reports. I assured them that many teachers require bibliographies and rough drafts so whole- sale plagiarism will not occur. I also reminded them that we had used your site for information. I argued that if all people held back their information, where would that lead us?
Anyway, each student is completing a second hard copy and a disk copy with the information of their format and program on the disk, and, of course, the parental release.
While today was the deadline, since we are home for a snow day, I will extend it through Monday. Then I will send them to you, two day delivery. I, again, appreciate your support in this work. I am going to publish a news article about this in the local newspaper. If you have any thoughts to add to it, let me know.
Thank you,
