Oral History and Documentary
History Marija Dalbello The workshop participants will be introduced to the theory, methodology and limitations of oral history and documentary history. Several current applications of oral history methods focusing on those in the digital library context will be demonstrated and discussed. An overview of state of the art technologies relevant for oral history in the context of digital libraries will be presented. The workshop will explore possible applications of oral history in different types of information agencies, focusing on archives, museums, research and public libraries. The workshop will call on the participants to discuss the possible areas of application that are relevant to their work setting, and discuss concrete examples of informal contexts of knowledge transmission that would be conducive for application of oral history in local context, and building collections around the notion of "living memory". The workshop will be conducted in English, with discussion in English and Croatian.
