BASIC SAILING: Sailing in Western NJ


Round Valley Reservoir and Spruce Run Reservoir

These are two great places in Hunterdon County, New Jersey that both allow sailing. Round Valley in Lebanon is New Jersey's second largest body of fresh water (next to Lake Hopatcong) and has a lauching ramp for boat trailers. Spruce Run has sailboat rentals available.

    Located eight miles east of Clinton, off Route 22.

    Take I-78 West to Exit 17 or East to Exit 12; Route 31 North to Van Syckels Road, left one and a half miles.

If you would like to join a sailing club:

Society for the Education of the American Sailor (SEAS). This is the Morris County, NJ chapter of SEAS. There are three more chapters in the New York, New Jersey area: Bergen County, Monmouth County, Westchester County (NY). SEAS offers Basic Sailing courses by volunteer SEAS members who are Red Cross Certified. They also schedule sailing events and cruises. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month.
