When the night fell, the women
of family would prepare plateds filled with round fruits, apples, pomegranates,
honey peaches, sour betel nuts, and grapes, all fragranced with the scent
of rose blossom incense.
The shape of the fruits symbolizes the fullness of the moon and family
harmony. Some fruits symbolize "reunion" meanings for Chinese people. Apple
is pronounced as "Ping" and it sounds like "peace". Grouds are also served
becasue it is sturdy and would symbolize family strength and unity.
In the traditional family, pear will not be served because it pronounce
in Chinese is "Li" and that means "seperation".
