ALBANEWS is a mailing list dedicated to the distribution of
news and information related to Albania, Kosova, the Albanian
populated regions in FYR of Macedonia and Montenegro, as well as
the Albanian diaspora world-wide.
ALBANEWS operates from the LISTSERV at the University of
Buffalo, NY, in the U.S. The software running the list provides
subscribers with many options which can be customize, as well
as an archive of postings on the list. For more information
on the LISTSERV options, please refer to the document
you have received when you have first subscribed to the list.
This list is open to all that have access to electronic mail.
To subscribe, you must have an electronic address to which the
messages will be sent as well as provide your first and last
name to the LISTSERV. Subscribing with a nickname or false name is
not allowed on the list and is basis for removal from the list.
ALBANEWS is a moderated list. Because of its nature as an
Albanian news and information list any mail not related to this
category will not be distributed through this list. For discussions
on Albanian matters, questions, and so forth, you may wish to
subscribe to the ALBANIAN Discussion List at:

ALBANEWS is not affiliated with the Albanian Government, the
Kosova Government, any Albanian association or organization within or
outside of Albania's borders, or any information agency. This list
is run on voluntary basis by the owner and the co-owners, with a
single goal in mind: to make this list a pleasurable and learning
experience for all of its members by distributing news and
information from various sources.
The languages used on ALBANEWS are Albanian and English.
Subscribers, once subscribed to the list, may modify their
subscription options to receive news in Albanian only, English only,
or in both languages. Detailed procedure given bellow.
Rules of ALBANEWS
=================
Mail sent to ALBANEWS must meet these conditions:
- Must be official news from an accredited news agency;
- Must pertain to Albania, Kosova, the Albanian population in FYR of
Macedonia, Montenegro or other areas in the Balkans, the Albanian
communities world-wide, or the Albanian people in general;
- News must not be older than two weeks unless the sender believes
that it may be of interest to the list members;
- Topic(s) must be provided.
All mail, except that sent by the Editors, will be forwarded to
the moderator(s). The moderator(s) will then review the mail and if
it fulfills the above specified conditions will release the mail to
the list for distribution. Articles can be rejected if they do not
meet the posting conditions of ALBANEWS. If an article is rejected
the moderator will provide the reason for such action to the sender.
The sender must provide the topic for the mail sent to ALBANEWS.
The topic can be from either one of these: NEWS, LAJME, PRESS,
SHTYPI, PRESS-RELEASE, KUMTESA and OTHER.
NEWS: For news and information in English, whose source is
primarily news organizations and agencies (not newspapers
or periodical prints). This topic will contain ATA, KIC,
ENTER, Council for the Defense of Human Rights and Freedoms
based in Prishtina, etc...
LAJME: Same content as NEWS but in Albanian.
PRESS: For distribution of daily magazines and periodicals
in English. This topic will contain "Zeri i Popullit",
"Gazeta Albania", etc...
SHTYPI: Same content as PRESS but in Albanian.
PRESS-RELEASE: Press releases by Albanian and Kosova Government,
political parties, and other organizations and
associations, etc...
KUMTESA: Same content as PRESS-RELEASE but in Albanian.
INFO: For other information that is out of the scope of the
above topics.
OTHER: Is a special topic. A message that does not conform to
any of the above topics falls into this category. Usually
for specific information that pertains to the work of the
list.
The topic is specified in the "Subject" line of the mail header.
Examples:

Subject: Other: Admin: Notice
Subject: Press-Release: Kosova Government

Articles that bypass the moderators and go directly to the
list are those sent by the list Editors. The list Editors are
individuals, organizations, and official news agencies that send
mail to ALBANEWS on a regular basis. THANKS TO ALL OF THEM.

Rules and Guidelines, therefore the revised document will be

How to alter your subscription options
======================================
Here are few LISTSERV commands that will help you modify your topics
subscription to ALBANEWS. Please note that all commands, one command
per line in the body of your e-mail, should be sent to:
LISTSERV@LISTSERV.ACSU.BUFFALO.EDU
Please note that by default you have been subscribed to all topics.
Therefore, no further action is needed on your part if you wish to
receive every message that gets distributed via this list.
- To find the topics that you are currently subscribed:
QUERY ALBANEWS
- To subscribe to all topics:
SET ALBANEWS TOPICS: ALL
- To subscribe to specific topics ONLY:
SET ALBANEWS TOPICS: LAJME NEWS
This command will replace your previous topics with LAJME and NEWS.
- To add certain topic(s) to your existing set of topics you need to
add a "+" sign in front of the topic name:
SET ALBANEWS TOPICS: +SHTYPI +KUMTESA
This will add SHTYPI and KUMTESA topics.
- To remove certain topic(s) from your existing set of topics you need
to add a "-" sign in front of the topic name:
SET ALBANEWS TOPICS: -PRESS-RELEASE
Please note that PRESS-RELEASE is a topic.
Note that there is NO blank space between the "+"/"-" and the topics
name.
- Example command:
SET ALBANEWS TOPICS: ALL -PRESS -PRESS-RELEASE -NEWS
This command will first add all topics and then remove the three
topics that distribute messages in English. You will receive
messages only in Albanian.
- Example command:
SET ALBANEWS TOPICS: ALL -LAJME -SHTYPI -KUMTESA
This command will first add all topics and then remove the three
topics that distribute messages in Albanian. You will receive
messages only in English.
