| What FOA data can we observe? An important methodological point is that we do not (and, at least until brain imaging techniques advance even further than they have already, will not) have access to the askers internal cognitive state, and therefore we cannot rely on such evidence to build a scientific theory of FOA. Rather, we must content ourselves with observing the askers overt actions their query and relevance feedback, generated in an effort to satisfy this information need. |
