You can listen to your grades for any semester or request an unofficial transcript by touch-tone telephone. Grade reports will not be sent automatically, and grades cannot be given out by the LIS office over the phone. Use the numbers below, depending on where you are located:
609-225-1999
973-353-1999
732-445-1999
You can also access your grades and class schedules online through the Registrar's Office. To access the New Brunswick Registrar, go to http://registrar.rutgers.edu/NBINDEX.HTM. You will need to have an account on the Eden server.
Please note that a grade of B means that you have done good, better than satisfactory work. Do not expect to get all A's! There is nothing wrong with a B average -- most prospective employers will simply want to be assured that you have earned the MLS, and will not be concerned with your grade point average. You should be aware, however, that no more than two grades of C will be acceptable. Learn as much as you can, as best you can, and don't waste energy worrying about grades!
Grades in use in the MLS program: A, B+, B, C+, C, F, T/_, IN, PA, TZ, NC
These are defined as follows:
| A....Outstanding | B+...Intermediate grade | B....Good |
| C+...Intermediate grade | C....Satisfactory | PA...Pass |
| NC...No credit | ||
| F....Failing; also, stopped attending without withdrawing. | ||
| IN...Incomplete (used only if student is expected to make up the work). | ||
| T/_..Temporary grade used when it is not clear whether student will correct deficiency. | ||
| TZ...Can be assigned to a student who does not appear to have attended class or completed any coursework, and where a faculty member does not desire to assign "F" or "TF." If the problem is not cleared up within the following semester, the grade will revert to an F. | ||
The LIS Department's policy on temporary and incomplete grades is that students with two or more of these may not register for subsequent semesters. The "IN" becomes part of the student's permanent record one year after its issuance. A "T" grade issued in the fall becomes part of the student's permanent record if not changed by the end of the following spring term. "T" grades issued in the spring or summer terms become permanent September 15.
