CHAPTER NEWS
JUNE 5, 2006
Hello all, My name is Jason Giumara and I'm a senior at Rutgers University.
Starting in the Fall, Danielle Dahlinger and myself are going to serve as
Co-Presidents for our chapter. Danielle and myself will be serving for one
semester and Paola Hernandez will be take over in the Spring semester. The three
of us are excited for the upcoming year and we have some great things planned.
Paola has sent out an email to the listserv wrapping up our year. In case you
are not on our listserv and would like to be added please send us an
email.
Below is a copy of the email Paola sent out last month. Give it a read, and I
hope everyone has a safe and happy summer. More updates on the way.
Hello PRSSA Members,
As the semester dwindles down, I would like to take a moment to formally introduce
myself, reflect on the past year, and offer a glimpse of the year to come. My name
is Paola Hernandez and I am a junior at Rutgers College with a double major in Communication and Sociology. Together with the support of Danielle Dahlinger and
Jason Giumara, who served on the executive board for the past year and who will be
the Co-Presidents for the fall semester, I will serve as President Elect for the
2006-2007 school year.
We have had a lot of success during the past year and I would like to extend a special thank you to all those members who have dedicated themselves to this great
organization. To all the graduating members, we wish you luck as you venture out
into the real world. To continuing members, we hope you have a great summer and we
look forward to seeing you next year. Our goal for the upcoming year is to continue
to show our dedication to this extraordinary organization and to continue the progress that this
year's e-board has made with our new e-board, as well as the support of old and new members.
On that note, I am proud to announce that we've elected a new executive board for
the 2006-2007 year. Everyone elected is extremely friendly and ambitious and are
always willing to help. Provided for your convenience is a list of their names,

Finally, I would like to leave you with a few important announcements as the spring
semester winds down:
- I am pleased to announce that due to the tremendous amount of efforts by everyone
in PRSSA, we are the recipients of two very prestigious awards. We have been awarded
the Knight Shinning Armor Award for the month of April. Further, we won an Alegria
Award for Excellence in Student Media because we provide a unique service to other
student organizations by giving them pro-bono public relations work so they can gain
spotlight within campus media. These are both university-wide recognitions and we
should all be very proud!
- In the fall we are interested in working with active members though a number of
subcommittees, including a fundraising committee, and through account executives
positions, which are now OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS. Email Danielle, Jason or myself if you
are interested in obtaining these positions or if you would like more information.
- Attached with this email is a copy of PReview, our annual newsletter. Tanya Pastor
created this year's edition, and she did a great job highlighting the accomplishments of our organization for the past year. We invite you to download it
and give it a read - maybe you'll see a glimpse of yourself in the newsletter.
That's it for the announcements. Again, on behalf of the executive board, I would
like to thank you for all your hard work this year. I encourage you all to send me
an email if you have any questions, concerns or if you just want to get involved
with PRSSA for the summer or upcoming semester.
Good luck with finals and have a GREAT SUMMER!! :)
Sincerely,
Paola Hernandez
President Elect of PRSSA
