- If you have not done so already, please fill out our survey. Filling this out will give us an idea of what programming you would like to see from RASL in the coming semester.
- Points of interest for the school librarianship track - did you know that if you become a certified school librarian you can also work as a teen/youth/chldren's librarian in a public library?
- Please note that the SL track at Rutgers is very structured but will give you a great overview of librarianship.
- Don't forget you will need to take three educational courses in addition to the library courses to become certified
- Field experience is required for the SL track

- Introduction of our officers and our faculty advisors - Dr. Todd & Dr. Gordon - if you have any questions for any of us please see our About Us page.
- The Center for the International Scholarship in School Libraries (CISSL) is going to be releasing a new study on New Jersey School Libraries - so keep your eyes open for this!
- Advising is available to students every semester, so make sure you take advantage of it.
- Contact Dr. McNally in November if you are planning to complete your field experience in the Spring, in April if you want to complete it in the fall
- We are still looking for two officers to join our board this year, see the main page for descriptions!

January 2010
There are no offical minutes from this meeting, but Dr. Todd came and spoke about several library organizations that can help us get involved internationally. These included:
IASL – International Association of School Libraries – convention in Kingston, Jamaica this August – student membership $30
IRA – International Reading Association – the whole reading arena – website at reading.org Student membership - $24 – conference Orlando May 8-11
ISTE – International Society for Technology and Education – integration of information technology into teaching and learning – student membership is $39 – convention is June in Philadelphia
IFLA – International Federation of Library Associations and Organizations – student membership is $89 – convention is August in Puerto Rico
