I am an assistant professor in the Library and Information Science Department at Rutgers University and an affiliated faculty of The Center for Media Studies. I received my PhD in Computer Science from Columbia University in 2006. Before coming to Rutgers I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies at University of Maryland.
My research focuses on Natural Language Processing (computational models for language understanding and learning; machine translation), and applications in Digital Libraries and Medical Informatics. My research unifies two separate but central themes in human language technologies: computational formalisms to express language phenomena and induction of knowledge from data.
