Soe Yoon Choi's research focuses on privacy management practices among social media users from a perspective of technology affordance. In her dissertation, she examine the ways in which social media users manage privacy features and regulate their information sharing activities across diverse audiences. Choi employ theories of decision bias to understand how contextual features of social media may challenge people to balance the tensions between needs for privacy and connectivity. Her other research interests include psychological distance and its influence on people's prosocial behaviors, egocentrism. and communication bias in offline and online contexts, and quantitative research methods.
