October 24, In-Person Celebrations for the Classes of 2020 and 2021

The celebration for the School of Communication and Information will be the afternoon of Sunday, October 24.

Graduates should arrive by 1:30 pm, and the celebration will begin at 2:30 p.m., at the Rutgers Athletic Center (the RAC), Livingston Campus, Piscataway.

Our celebration will be short on speeches and focus on recognizing our graduating students individually.

The Registration Deadline is Now Closed. If you did not register and want to attend, please email graduation@comminfo.rutgers.edu.

You are eligible to participate if:

  • You were an undergraduate who had a SC&I major and you graduated between October 2019 and August 2021
  • You were a master’s or doctoral student who graduated between October 2019 and August 2021

Bringing Guests

Graduates who have registered are able to bring guests to the event.  We will not be requiring tickets for guests.

Our celebration will be livestreamed so anyone can watch.

Masks, Distancing, And Covid Protocols

We will be following all state and university safety guidelines during this event.  Everyone must wear a mask, so be sure to bring yours and have your guests bring theirs.  When we call your name and you will walk across the stage, you will be able to take off your mask.  There will be no hand shaking on stage, but we hope what we have planned will be fun.

Important Other Logistics At The RAC

Please limit the bags you and your guests bring to the event.  There will be security to get in, and all bags will be checked.

No food or refreshments will be available in the RAC during the event.

Regalia

If you want to wear regalia to this event, great.  If you prefer not to wear regalia, we ask you to dress in business attire to cross the stage..

Professional Photography

A photographer will take photos of everyone who walks across the stage. The vendor, Island Photography, will email you shortly after the celebration with a link so you can review and purchase your photos. Or, click here to register in advance to view your photo gallery.  You can enter your own email and up to six emails of family and friends with whom you would like to share your photos.  Images will be posted within 72 hours of the celebration. The RAC is accessible so everyone can enjoy the event.

If you are a graduate with an accessibility issue, please contact Associate Dean Karen Novick.

Parking

As you approach the RAC from Suttons Lane or Avenue E, parking attendants will direct you to nearby parking.

Handicapped parking is available in the Green and Yellow Lots.  There are handicapped spaces in the Green Lot alongside the RAC and a ramp to walk down to the arena. You can also drop off guests in the circle in front of the RAC if necessary, but the driver will then have to go park the car.
