Instructional Technologies

Instructional Design and Technology Services (IDTS) in cooperation with SC&I's Information Technology Services (ITS) works to identify, review, acquire and support hardware and software for instructional purposes. Further, IDTS works with various offices around the university that administer technologies that are used for instruction such as eCollege and Sakai.

Below is a list of the principal Instructional Technologies which are available for SC&I instructors. 

Lecture Capture - Panopto (Windows/Mac)

Panopto is our core system used to record instructor and student presentations. It can be used to record narrated PowerPoint, screencasts, or even webcam video. It is very easy to use and eliminates the need for a lot of technical knowledge.

Online Training Library - lyndaCampus

As a School of Communication and Information (SC&I) instructor, staff member, or Rutgers student in a SC&I course, you have access to the full lynda.com library including exercise files. lyndaCampus is a school-wide version of lynda.com, an industry standard online training library of over 3,000 courses with 100,000 video-based tutorials on over 2000 software titles. Courses include: Adobe and Microsoft software, audio and video techniques, SPSS, Social Media tools and use, etc.

Web Conferencing - Zoom Basic (Windows/Mac)

Zoom Basic (free tool) unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, web-based group messaging and conferencing into one easy-to-use platform. Course Management Systems

Rutgers - New Brunswick and SC&I utilize two primary systems for online course companions - Canvas and Sakai.
