John Leustek’s research focuses on the interpersonal communication dynamics that exist within close relationships and families. Specifically, his research examines experiences of chronic uncertainty and how the perceived resolvability of such uncertainty shapes the communication strategies that individuals select to cope with distress arising from these conditions. General areas of study include interpersonal communication, family communication, health communication, uncertainty, social support, and topic avoidance.
