MI Flexible Learning Options

Choose the course delivery option that works best for you and earn your degree in 18-36 months. Students can complete the program fully online (except the Interaction Design concentration) or choose a combination of on campus and online courses.

Online Learning Option

The online classes are not self-paced—they require you to engage fully with your peers and professors each week. However, the format is asynchronous; you don’t have to log in at a specific time to meet for class.

  • Designed for part-time study, 6 credits/semester is typical
  • Taught by full-time faculty members or highly qualified part-time instructors
  • Classes average 10-22 students

The online courses were built with generous funding from the federal agency of the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

On-Campus/Hybrid Learning Option

Most courses are offered on campus although there may be exceptions.

  • On-campus classes typically meet once a week, scheduled throughout the day
  • Engage with the MI and SC&I community in person
  • Explore opportunities on campus and within our local and regional communities
  • Classes average 10-25 students
