The Department of Library and Information Science offers a 39-credit undergraduate major in Information Technology and Informatics (ITI). A broad variety of required and elective courses offered as part of the ITI major enable students to become well-rounded information professionals who have the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully compete in today’s technology-focused marketplace. Emphasis in the ITI major is placed on the evaluation, implementation, use, and management of information technologies for a wide range of organizations and corporations. Issues related to the social and organizational aspects of information and communication technologies are placed at the forefront, as well. The major unites theories drawn from the humanities and social sciences with practical computer-based competencies. Like all undergraduate majors at SC&I, the ITI major requires an application process separate from the Rutgers University application.
