Marissa Caldwell (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Communication, with a focus in Language and Social Interaction. Her primary research interest is in Conversation Analysis of U.S. political discourse, specifically Senate and House hearings. Specifically, she examines the practices Senators employ to pursue responses to their questions. Caldwell is the doctoral student coordinator for the Rutgers University Conversation Analysis Lab (RUCAL) and works as a Teaching Assistant for Jenny Mandelbaum's Introduction to Communication. Prior to joining Rutgers' doctoral program, she taught middle school and high school English classes for 5 years.
