Marissa Caldwell (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Communication, with a focus in Language and Social Interaction. Caldwell's primary research interest is in Conversation Analysis of U.S. political discourse, specifically congressional hearings. Her current research focuses on several aspects of question-answer sequences in this context: transitions between questions, resistant responses, and response pursuits. Caldwell is the current doctoral student coordinator for the Rutgers University Conversation Analysis Lab (RUCAL) and works as a Teaching Assistant for Comm 101: Introduction to Communication. Prior to joining Rutgers' doctoral program, she taught middle school and high school English courses for 5 years.
