"The View from Abroad" — the Spring 2023 Edition of Kairos is Here!

Kairos, the undergraduate magazine of the SC&I Journalism and Media Studies Department, recently published its spring 2023 edition, "The View from Abroad." Focusing primarily on stories written by JMS students who traveled to Ireland and Italy during the spring semester, the issue also includes articles about the American and Ecuadorian media and a story about the Rutgers Women's Ultimate Frisbee team.

Engagement with partisan or unreliable news is driven by personal content choices, rather than the content presented by online search algorithms, suggests a study published in Nature.

A new Rutgers study suggests that the Google Search algorithm does not lead users to content that affirms their existing beliefs.

Youngrim Kim Named the Recipient of a 2022 ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award by the University of Michigan
Date: May 23, 2023

An Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at SC&I, Kim said her dissertation, which she earned from the University of Michigan in 2022, “examines the politics surrounding state-initiated digital health platforms that are built to manage global health crises, through the case study of two infectious disease outbreaks in South Korea: the 2015 MERS Epidemic and COVID-19.”

Kim, an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at SC&I, earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2022.
