Maureen Newman earned an MLIS from Rutgers’ School of Communication & Information in 2009, focusing on Technology and Information & Management. She also has several years of art school, a BA in Sociology, and certificates in Web Development, Business and Managerial Communication, and Online Teaching under her belt. Newman has worked in several tech/data/information positions, including database manager for a non-profit organization, freelance web developer/designer, researcher for a law firm, corporate librarian/archivist for a major finance publisher, and records/data manager in higher education.

She is currently the full-time Data and Information Specialist for SC&I, and a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science. Classes regularly taught include Digital Library Technology (Master of Information graduate program, online course) and Retrieving and Evaluating Electronic Information (Information Technology and Informatics undergraduate program, hybrid course).
