Eiman Ahmed and Brendan Murphy Join the Library and Information Science Faculty

The Library and Information Science Department is pleased to welcome Eiman Ahmed and Brendan Murphy to the department faculty.

Instructor of Library and Information Science Eiman Ahmed (she/her)

Eiman Ahmed (she/her) is a SC&I Ph.D. Candidate and she holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from Pace University. She uses computational social science methods to explore the relationship between individuals' health and technology use. Ahmed’s research can be found in information systems journals, such as Electronics, and medical journals, including Cancer Reports. Before transitioning to academia, Ahmed was a software engineer at Morgan Stanley. Now, she primarily teaches data analytics and programming as a computer and information systems instructor at Rutgers and Columbia Universities. 

Assistant Teaching Professor of Library and Information Science Brendan Mahoney (they/them, he/him).

Mahoney’s research interests relate broadly to the relationship between the internet and ideology, and he currently studies the processes through which digital platforms afford and disrupt social movement spaces. Mahoney obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics, English, and Mathematics from SUNY Geneseo, a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
