Faculty and students from SC&I's Communication Department will attend the 116th EasternCommunication Association (ECA) convention at the Hyatt Regency in Buffalo, New York, from March 26–30. Established in 1910, ECA is the oldest professional communication association in the United States, bringing together scholars, educators, and students in the field.

This year’s theme, “Contemporary Problems, Creative Solutions,” highlights the role of Communication Studies in addressing today’s complex challenges. Scholars and practitioners will explore key questions, including:

  • How can Communication Studies provide solutions to societal, environmental, geopolitical, technological, and economic issues?
  • How can we better prepare students to tackle these challenges with innovative approaches?
  • How can we extend Communication Studies beyond traditional academic settings?

The convention will feature paper and panel sessions, short courses, poster presentations, and roundtables, showcasing research and fostering collaboration among scholars from 21 interest groups and three affiliate organizations. For detailed information, refer to the ECA 2025 program.
