Christina Gibbs is the founder of Starling Data Studio, a consultancy specializing in digital asset management (DAM), collections data, and systems integration for cultural heritage organizations and beyond. With a rare ability to move seamlessly between technical implementation and strategic vision, she helps institutions design scalable content ecosystems that empower people and unlock the full value of their data.
After a 15-year tenure at the Detroit Institute of Arts, where she served as Collections Database Manager, Gibbs launched her own practice and has since led transformative projects with the Smithsonian Institution, private collectors, and technology providers across North America. Her client portfolio includes major museums as well as mission-driven organizations seeking to elevate their digital infrastructure.
Gibbs is a certified facilitator of the DAM Capability Model, a regular speaker at conferences, and an instructor in the Rutgers University Professional Certificate Program in Strategic Digital Asset Management. She is also a contributing author to the book, Digital Asset Management for Museums (American Alliance of Museums Series, Bloomsbury Academic, 2025).
