MI Colloquium presents Misinformation on Encrypted Social Networks - Innovations in Data Collection, and Solutions
Did you know? WhatsApp, despite its widespread use, remains largely unexplored due to its encrypted nature?
SC&I Assistant Professor Kiran Garimella takes the MI Colloquium stage to present his pioneering and innovative approaches to using large-scale data analysis for social good - such as the important work of understanding the spread of misinformation on encrypted social networks like WhatsApp. Kiran will:
- Discuss the prevalence of and solutions for combating misinformation
- Reveal computational social science research methods to collect Whatsapp data.
- Share significant research discoveries.
- Explore the ethical considerations and guidelines for utilizing big /digital data
- Reinforce the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in research.
- Talk about future tools and directions in computational social science.
