Ken Hunter is President and Chief Strategist of public relations and marketing communication consultancy PowerStation Communications, where he works with clients to drive their PR, marketing, advertising, and brand strategy.
Throughout his career, Hunter has provided businesses with visions, strategies, and inspiration for communication programs. With deep experience in the consumer, tech, healthcare, B2B, real estate, and government sectors, his work effectively builds relationships, counsels senior executives, and boosts revenue.

Hunter has more than 25 years of experience in public relations and marketing communication – at agencies and businesses in New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, and Colorado – and before that, in journalism at several media companies in New York City covering commercial and ski resort real estate and high-yield bonds. He has won more than two dozen awards for his PR, marketing, and journalism work.
His communication expertise includes corporate positioning and branding, product/service launches, crisis communication preparation and management, marketing communication, digital communication, media relations, and spokesperson and team training. Hunter has worked with industry leaders – including Starbucks, Tempur-Pedic, Dow Chemical, Atlantic Health System, MAQUET, IEEE, and Cuisinart – as well as growing influencers and new ventures, among them Space Imaging, Wireless Advocates, and Philips Image-Guided Therapy/Spectranetics.
Hunter has also worked in-house at several organizations, including NAFA Fleet Management Association (the world’s largest association for vehicle fleet managers), and drove marketing and public relations at the Rutgers University Foundation and Alumni Relations office. He is also the Co-Academic Director for Curriculum for the Rutgers Continuing and Professional Studies unit’s Communication Certificate Program, overseeing the content and instruction for programs in Crisis Communication and Reputation Management, Business Communication, and PR.
One of his passions is teaching the next generation of communication leaders. He has been a professor since 2011, teaching at Rutgers, Seton Hall Univ., New York Univ., William Paterson Univ., and Raritan Valley Community College.
A member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and a current Director of its New Jersey Chapter, Ken was chair of the PRSA’s Tri-State District in 2013, encompassing more than 1,300 PR professionals in New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut, and Westchester County, N.Y. He was President of the PRSA New Jersey Chapter in 2010, and served as President of PRSA’s Pikes Peak Chapter in Colorado, in 2006. Ken has served as the Rutgers PRSSA chapter’s Professional Advisor since 2008.
