Jessica Ussher is an educator and freelance journalist whose research explores the role of symbols in Black digital culture, with a focus on memes as cultural artifacts. She examines why certain visual forms resonate within specific Black communities and how symbolic patterns differ between British and African-American online spaces, revealing both cultural distinctiveness and resistance to homogenization.
