Before you can apply to any of SC&I’s three undergraduate majors, you must first meet these requirements.

Current Rutgers University students can apply to the School of Communication and Information (SC&I) to pursue an undergraduate major in Communication, Information Technology and Informatics, Journalism and Media Studies

Teaching and Graduate Assistantships are available to highly qualified students. In most cases, students applying by January 5th are considered automatically for these positions as part of the admissions process.

Rutgers SC&I Communication and Journalism & Media Studies majors can apply for the Master of Communication and Media program in their junior or senior year as part of the Five Year dual-degree BA/MCM program option.

Master of Communication and Media, Master of Information, Ph.D. Program

Talk to JMS Director of Undergraduate Studies, Office of Student Services undergraduate advisors and faculty members. Get involved with key communication organizations so you can make contributions on the local and national level.

You can focus on specific types of media, gain dedicated skills, and extend the value of your degree by participating in one of the JMS major’s specializations: Global Media, Sports Journalism.

The JMS program consists of 33 credits for the major plus an interdisciplinary requirement for all SC&I majors.
