Creating Trust and Reputation: Ethics Within Public Relations

Course Instructor
Erin Keenan
- Do you have a process to step away from emotion and rationally examine if a situation is "ethical"?
- Do your employees know what is expected of them?
- Are your employees engaged in their work?

There are many ethical "grey areas" that emerge for communicators, whether they are organizational, industry-centered, or determined by the shifting sensibilities of the marketplace. During "Creating Trust and Reputation: Ethics Within Public Relations," students will build the skills and competencies to identify and anticipate ethical dilemmas communicators may face when developing and executing PR campaigns – and determine how to resolve them effectively. Within this course, students will explore classical ethical challenges as well as newer phenomena, such as the effects of artificial intelligence on the industry. Additionally, the course will explore information biases along with approaches to assess and create solutions to ethical issues.
