Jessica Durando graduated from Rutgers University in 2008 with a double major in History and Journalism and Media Studies (JMS). Durando was recruited by USA TODAY after college and served in various capacities during her nearly 11-year tenure, including the company’s first mobile editor, deputy foreign affairs editor and most recently as breaking news editor for national news. The former Daily Targum editor-in-chief now serves as the senior weekend editor for CNN Politics. In this role, Durando leads coverage of all things Washington – including the impeachment of President Donald Trump and his subsequent trial, matters of national security and campaign coverage for the 2020 presidential election. Durando also serves as a capstone advisor for the School of Continuing Studies Communications program at Georgetown University. She received her master’s degree from this program in 2018, graduating summa cum laude. In her free time, Durando enjoys yoga, kickboxing and trips back to the Jersey shore.
