Souvick Ghosh, doctoral student at the School of Communication and Information (SC&I), has been awarded the LIS Education and Data Science for the National Digital Platform (LEADS-4-NDP) Fellowship.

Sponsored by Drexel University’s College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), the Metadata Research Center, and participating partners, the LEADS Fellowship includes a $5,000 stipend, plus additional financial support for a three-day Data Science Bootcamp at Drexel University, a visit to an NDP site during the summer, and conference travel to share project outcomes.

Ghosh’s research interests include application of deep learning and natural language processing in multimodal information retrieval. “The fellowship fits my profile perfectly, and I will be working with the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) Research, who is a big name in ILS systems,” Ghosh said. “It is a great opportunity, and I am confident of doing some good research over the summer."
