For the third time in the conference’s long-standing history, the Rutgers School of Communication and Information will host the Organizational Communication Mini-Conference. It will be held from Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8, 2023 on the College Avenue campus in New Brunswick.
The Union for Democratic Communications (UDC) Conference will be held in Philadelphia from October 12-15, 2023. The conference is hosted by the Media, Inequality, and Change (MIC) Center, a collaboration between the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication and Rutgers University’s School of Communication and Information (SC&I); the conference theme is “Left Undone.”

As part of Banned Book Week, you are invited to BANNED: A Virtual Banned Books Read-Out & Discussions on the Freedom to Read on October 5 at 5:00 pm EST. In addition to “flash-talks” from librarians, SC&I faculty, and Rutgers alumni on censorship and free speech, this virtual open mic-night will also give participants the opportunity to read from, listen to, and celebrate their favorite banned/challenged books. All kinds of texts are welcome, as are all languages! Please note that read-out performances will be limited to 2 minutes each, so choose your excerpt wisely.
The Office of Student Services at SC&I will host a virtual information session for undergraduate students interested in receiving internship credit for Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, and Information Technology and Informatics.
Professor of Communication Jennifer Theiss has received the award from the National Communication Association for her research that “has made a significant contribution to the field of family communication.”
