The Communication Department is pleased to welcome two new assistant professors this fall: Eugene Lee and Nitzan Navick.

Welcoming Lee and Navick, Chair of the Communication Department and Professor of Communication Marya Doefel said, “We are thrilled that Dr. Navick’s and Dr. Lee’s research will further strengthen our department’s leadership in shaping how the field understands the future of work and communication. Meanwhile, their expertise will also enrich Rutgers students’ education about today’s digital workplace—and their role in shaping it.”

Communication Faculty Members Joining the Department in fall 2025:

 Eugene Lee
Assistant Professor of Communication

Through her research, Lee (she/her) examines how emerging technologies are transforming organizational communication, employee well-being, and stakeholder relationships.

She specializes in mixed-methods research, combining computational, quantitative, and interview-based approaches. Her recent work focuses on algorithmic management in the gig economy, exploring how AI-driven systems shape workers’ experiences, well-being, and perceptions of leadership. Lee earned her Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California.

Nitzan Navick
Assistant Professor of Communication

Navick’s (she/her) scholarship explores how communication technologies and evolving social norms influence workplace processes crucial to organizational members' well-being, including work-life boundary management, organizational belonging, and conditions for inclusion, safety, and health. Her research and teaching emphasize corporate social responsibility as a vital intersection of communication, ethics, and strategy, an area where she integrates her commitment to equity-driven research and practical impact. As both a professor and practitioner, Navick bridges theory and applied insight through mixed-methods research, mentoring students, and consulting organizations on how to implement positive change. At the heart of her work is a commitment to helping organizations and the people within them thrive in today’s complex, digital workplace. Navick earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
