The Rutgers School of Communication and Information (SC&I) is excited to announce the expansion of fully online options in its Master of Communication and Media (MCM) program. The Communication and Media Studies and Public Relations specializations are now offered entirely online, joining the well-established Digital Media specialization.
“The expansion of our fully online specializations reflects our commitment to providing a high-quality, flexible, and accessible graduate education,” says Teaching Professor and MCM Program Director Richard Dool, D.Mgt. “Our program’s design ensures students can advance their education without sacrificing their personal or professional commitments.”
A Program Tailored for Success
In addition to three fully online specializations, the MCM program offers four other specializations available in on-campus and hybrid formats:
- Communication and Media Research
- Corporate Purpose and Social Impact
- Health Communication
- Strategic Organizational and Leadership Communication
All MCM students begin their academic journey with five core courses before customizing their degree with electives tailored to their specialization. With flexible learning options, including evening classes (Monday–Thursday, 6–9 p.m.) and year-round online courses, students can earn their master’s degree at their own pace.
Preparing Graduates for Leadership
The MCM program equips graduates for leadership roles in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, and social media—fields that are evolving rapidly in today’s professional landscape.
Students gain a competitive edge through:
- Expert Faculty: Courses led by accomplished scholars and industry professionals.
- Flexible Curriculum: A dynamic blend of foundational knowledge and tailored electives.
- Robust Alumni Network: Connections with top researchers, theoreticians, and practitioners in the field.
