Rutgers University honors SC&I’s Associate Dean for Programs and Distinguished Professor of Journalism and Media Studies Dafna Lemish for her distinguished research contributions to her discipline and society at large, highlighting her one of only 34 faculty members across the university chosen for one of the university’s eight annual faculty awards.

In order to work in PR, I needed to learn new skills, specifically how PR utilizes social media. Having a certificate would make me more marketable.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign awarded E.E. Lawrence the Berner-Nash Memorial Award for his doctoral dissertation titled “Reading for Democratic Citizenship: A New Model for Readers’ Advisory.”

The closing of Rutgers University due to the COVID-19 pandemic has meant SC&I staff have needed to adapt quickly to working 100% remotely, during a time when students and faculty have needed more support than ever before. SC&I staff continue to do exemplary work in all areas and to provide assistance in new, expanded, and creative ways.

Because of COVID-19, SC&I’s annual public speaking contest was held virtually for the first time in the contest’s history. This year’s theme was “Stand Up, Speak Out! Be Bold. Be Heard.”

SC&I’s new MHCI degree will bridge the fields of communication, media, information science, technology, and healthcare and prepare its graduates for a variety of competitive and rewarding positions in the growing healthcare profession.
