DCIM Declaration Process

All Rutgers University students, regardless of major, are eligible to declare the Digital Communication, Information and Media (DCIM) minor after completing a DCIM course with a grade of C or better. Please contact your academic advisor to confirm the specific requirements for each academic program.

Your Pathway to a DCIM Minor

To help you structure a plan for completing the full program on schedule, make an advising appointment with SC&I Student Services, located in the SC&I Building, Room 214, at 4 Huntington Street in New Brunswick on the College Avenue Campus (CAC).

SAS and SC&I students: You may minor in DCIM regardless of your major.

SEBS students: If you have a SC&I major, you must have a SEBS minor. If you have a SEBS major, you may minor in DCIM.

Students of other Rutgers colleges (Business, Engineering, Nursing, etc.):
You may declare the DCIM minor after completing any course with a C or better.

How to Declare the DCIM Minor

After you’ve completed the DCIM course requirement with a grade of C or better and confirmed the specific requirements for your academic program, you may declare the DCIM minor by following the appropriate step below:

SAS and SC&I students: Log in to SAS myMajor.

SEBS students: Log in to SEBS myMajor.

MGSA students: Log in to MGSA myMajor.

Students of other Rutgers colleges (Business, Engineering, Mason Gross, Nursing, etc.):

DCIM Courses Meet Other Requirements

DCIM classes fulfill a variety of core curriculum requirements for SAS and other schools and can be double-counted for both the DCIM and Gender and Media minors. Consult Degree Navigator, Rutgers’ degree audit and academic advising system, to help manage the process.

Completing the DCIM Minor Certification

You must complete all your DCIM courses with a grade of C or better to obtain a certification of completing the DCIM minor. Courses with grades below C will not be counted towards the minor. If you are a SC&I major, please note that DCIM courses do not fulfill requirements towards your major.
