Internships as a Journalism and Media Studies major helped catapult her career.
SC&I Assistant Professor of Communication Shawnika Hull, at the School of Communication and Information, Rutgers University-New Brunswick, has been named a recipient of a 2023 University-wide Faculty Year-End Excellence Award.
Journalism and Media Studies major Samantha Marshak, who is in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) Honors Program, has been on the Dean’s List every semester during her Rutgers career, she is a Certified Peer Leader, a member of Kappa Tau Alpha “a college honor society that recognizes academic excellence and promotes scholarship in journalism and mass communication,” and she has been inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Kristina DeRobertis JMS’22 graduated from Rutgers SC&I with a B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies. After graduation, she moved to Dover, Delaware, to work as a news reporter for WBOC. Known as “Delmarva’s News Leader,” the station is an affiliate of CBS and a member of the Associated Press. Before taking this position, Kristina interned at SportsNet New York and worked on the production crew for Rutgers Athletics. In her off time, she enjoys running, writing, and crossword puzzles.
SC&I faculty members and student scholars participated in the 7th biennial D.C. Health Communication Conference (DCHC), sponsored by George Mason University’s Department of Communication and Center for Health and Risk Communication. Held April 27-29, DCHC celebrated its 11th anniversary this year with the theme “Health Communication for a Changing World.”
